I’d like to point out that this is not a Republican vs. Democrats issue. The Democrats have the votes available to pass both bills, but they realize the President’s proposal is not as good as he has stated.

Here are important points to explain these legislation issues:
1. Cap & Trade Legislation

• This bill is a tax increase of about $3,000 on every family in America, regardless of tax bracket.
• Public Service Commissioner Stan Wise states that this increase will add $800 annually to each Georgia Power bill, on average. The remaining $2,200 willcome from taxes on purchases
• The intention of this bill was to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Wise also states that no emission reductions are expected from this bill, just new tax
• President Obama promised no new taxes on the average American family. This increase in is direct conflict with that promise

2. Healthcare Reform

• Lower costs are the original intended purpose, yet The Government Office of Management and Budget has stated that costs will not be reduced by this bill
• All Americans should be alarmed by the creation of an end of life counseling commission. This would counsel persons on Medicare, as to whether food and or antibiotics should be administered in the last days of our life
• Creation of a Government Health Plan to compete with existing “for profit” plans would be devastating to plans we now hold. Can any “for profit” business compete with the United States government?
• Coverage for 10,000,000 illegal aliens would be created at our expense
• The proposed healthcare plan is less than offered to our politicians. Why is the current proposal less than their coverage?
